Telstra 2003 Santa Pub Crawl (Includes Santa's Little Spin-off BHP & Advantra Helpers)
Santa Pub Crawl 2003 - and let's just image the scene. As the No.112 tram approaches the intersection of Collins & Exhibition Streets, the odd passenger wriggles uncomfortably in their seat. What they see as they near the stop is an impressive mass of red and white standing at the tram stop waiting to hitch a ride. Not enough that these dedicated Santa crawlers have straggled a long way from the North Pole, but indeed they have merrily immersed themselves in a few cleasing ales at a prior local initial meeting point, ensuring that a 'spirit' of merriment is inflicted on the tram patrons simply wanting to get home. Introduce into the scene a few renditions of some very loudly sung Christmas Carols,(Dashing though the Snow in a Rusty Holden Ute??!) somewhat lacking in any musical flavour, and there you have the makings of an evening not to be forgotten anytime soon. As the tram picks up the first group of happy, singing Santas and duly arrives at it's Sth Melbourne destination, the scene is sure to impress - a pilgrimage halt of grand proportions along the Clarendon St Santa Route - first 'official' Santa Stop, the Cricket Club Hotel. Enter if you will, but only, if like the other 100+ santa-clad partygoers loudly spilling out onto the street, you too are prepared to answer some pertinent questions which will set the 'real' scene of the evening. And if your answers sound anything remotely like "Yes Santa, I've been VERY naughty", "No Santa, the batteries don't EVER last that long", "Yes Santa, I'll have another flaming shooter", "You bet Santa, I can down a pint in 3 seconds flat.!" then by all means please come along and join in on an event that has proudly savaged the childhood fantasy for the last 5 years running and is set to do it all again. And please, could the little bastard who tried to put in his Christmas list last year as Santa was face down in the gutter indulging in one of those special memorable moments, please come forward. Oh yeah kiddo, we'll fix you up with a Christmas list you'll never forget.
